If you’re looking to spend some time here in delightful Prescott, AZ—a big yay for you!
I’ve got some great info. to get you acclimated to this pretty incredible little town of mine.
Prescott really is a notch above when it comes to entertainment and activities of all kinds. We’re a mile high in elevation, and have four beautiful seasons. Whether you’re indoors-y, outdoors-y, a western-history buff, a music lover or a treasure hunter, you’ll find it here all year long.
Honestly, there’s so many little hidden gems I’d love to share with you about Prescott—and the surrounding areas like Sedona, Cottonwood, Williams, and more—because a trip here to our area can easily reach ‘unforgettable’ status when you’re doing all the right stuff! (A weekend here changed OUR lives years ago…)

But before you do that, here’s a few BIG tips that’ll have you feeling (and sounding) like a local right out of the gate:
Prescott is the county seat of Yavapai County. That means we have a big ‘ol courthouse building downtown, built in 1916, surrounded by trees and grass (and all kinds of good stuff). It’s technically called “Courthouse Square”…but really just say you’re going to “the Square” and everyone within at least 50 miles will know exactly what you mean.
Bring your ‘friendly’ with you. It’s kind of what we’re like. Ask to hear people’s stories and let the old guy in the cowboy hat ramble on… you’ll get some entertaining local history for sure!
And…possibly the biggest of the big tips: it’s pronounced “Preskit” (like biscuit). Yes, it doesn’t make sense. Practice it a few times in the mirror and trust me…it’ll pay off ; )
